Cat news: One-metre-long family feline is bigger than some dogs – and its still growing | Weird | News -Springupdates.com

A one-metre-long pet cat is often mistaken for a lion by passers-by who are shocked there’s a “wild cat” on the loose in their neighbourhood. Murphy, a Maine Coon cat, is reportedly 11kg and is 104cm long head to tail at 12 months old. Owned by Sareeta Brewin, 46, daughter Tammy Brewin, 14, and her two siblings, the family say Murphy is often mistaken for a dog by people all across Worcestershire who post photos of the cat on social media.

Murphy has a big appetite and costs a fortune to feed – getting through £60 worth of dry food every month.

The mum of three told the Daily Star: “Murphy is one now and we got him last November.

“He was about 13 or 14 weeks old and at that stage, he was the same size as our regular cat who’s only little.

“It’s like we’ve got a cat and a mouse with the size of him. She looks so small compared to him.”

Christmas could be a time to keep their eye on the cat. Last year, Murphy chewed his way through dozens of festive lights and the family’s iPhone cables.

As a result, this year there will be no Christmas decorations around the house.
