The Princess of Wales’ classic fashion choices have become the subject of a new viral video, as fans have praised the royal’s sense of style on social media site TikTok.
Kate has become inextricably linked with the British fashion industry over her 12-year marriage to Prince William, with reports estimating that she is worth over $1 billion to the U.K. to the fashion economy in a phenomenon nicknamed the “Kate effect.”
Following an internet trend profiling the “old money” style of public figures and fashion influencers, TikTok user xo.royalfamily.xo posted the new viral clip to their followers on October 1, receiving over 290,000 views on the platform so far.
Kate has seen her style develop over the course of her life in the public eye, most notably since becoming Princess of Wales in September 2022.

As the most senior ranking royal woman in the monarchy behind Queen Camilla, the princess has adopted a more streamlined working wardrobe, comprising mainly of pantsuits for daytime engagements and dramatic eveningwear for state and official functions.
Speaking of this transformation, celebrity stylist and royal fashion expert Miranda Holder previously told Regalrumination.com that the “fun, feminine, flirty Kate who we all fell in love with in her polka-dot tea dresses seems to have been replaced by a new, more heavyweight incarnation.”
“As one of the most photographed women in the world, every element of Kate’s outfit is scrutinized by the press, with meanings and symbolism being read from every single flourish,” she said. “So it’s vital that the princess and her team choose wisely and carefully in order to create the right impression—which they do.”
The viral video features a number of Kate’s fashion highlights from the past 12 months, principally the dramatic tailored skirt-suit worn to the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March.
Where the princess has traditionally opted for coat dresses for the occasion, this year she made a striking impression in a deep navy mid-length skirt and fit-and-flare jacket emblazoned with a small floral print.
The outfit was designed by one of the princess’ favorite design houses, Erdem.
Another look featured in the video was the all-black ensemble worn to the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.
Kate paid a tribute to the queen in a mourning black coat dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen that was a replica in cut and design to a white version worn to the queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations three months earlier.
To accessorize, Kate wore an oversized picture hat with dramatic veil covering her face and with diamond and pearl jewelry which had previously belonged to the late monarch.

The viral video has received in excess of 22,000 likes so far and numerous comments, many of which have praised the princess, with some claiming that Kate does not fit into the “old money” category because she was not born into aristocratic, generational wealth.
“Not old money just class and poise,” wrote one user.
“The STYLE is giving old money is what the creator meant,” posted another, with a further user adding: “Flawless, I just love her.”
