Royal expert Phil Dampier has suggested that Prince Harry may be “overly dependent” on his wife, Meghan Markle, for social interaction after leaving the royal family.
Dampier believes that Harry’s decision to leave the UK and start a new life in the US has made it difficult for him to maintain his old friendships, and that he is now relying on Meghan more than ever for companionship.
“I get the impression that Harry doesn’t have a circle of drinking buddies he can unwind with within Montecito, which has a population of older people, and I’m sure that takes its toll,” Dampier told the Mirror.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s become overly dependent on Meghan for his social life. It’s not healthy to rely on one person for everything.”
Dampier’s comments are subtle, but they do convey a sense of petiness. He seems to be implying that Harry is not a very social person and that he is not capable of making new friends on his own. He also seems to be suggesting that Meghan is not a very good friend because she is not providing Harry with the social interaction that he needs.
It is important to note that Dampier’s comments are based on his own observations, and there is no confirmation from Harry or Meghan themselves. However, his comments do raise some interesting questions about the social lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It is possible that Harry is relying on Meghan more than he would like to for social interaction. However, it is also possible that Dampier is simply being petty and judgmental. Only Harry and Meghan know for sure how their social lives are going.
